I was moved to tears by my extraordinary friend Jason Green’s words that I had to share with you!

“After spending 28 years in prison, I was unsure of where I would fit into a new unfamiliar society. I wondered if I would be accepted for the person that I have now become, or if many would hang onto my past and never let me forget it. This state of confusion brought a heavy uneasiness to my life following my release when I should have been living a brand new life. Then I came across a game changer, a Gem that has taught me how to give myself a loud, confident voice to overcome my own negative thoughts. The powerful words of patience, love, and perseverance in “Loving Yourself into Being” by Karina Hsieh has become a true blessing in my life. It has helped me live the peaceful, sound life that I only dreamed of living while sitting in a prison cell. It has given me a new, powerful way to view any obstacle that comes into my life, how to intake, evaluate, and perceive it and have power and control in it. Karina’s poems are now also helping empower many of the troubled youth in Richmond, California that I work with daily.Thank you, Karina, you are amazing. And thank you for helping make my mind peaceful and sound. I can only wish that I had this book years ago.”- Jason Green

For context, Jason and I became good friends at a powerful self development and leadership program over 3 years ago. Jason is truly an inspirational, kind, strong and loving leader, starting the non-profit: We Are Richmond, Inc. which has the mission “to eliminate the negative culture and vicious cycle of gang recruitment that preys on [their] city’s youth” by providing early intervention for “children ages 9-12 from rival gang areas, and [unites] them in playful, empowering activities.” Thank you for your vulnerability and honesty in sharing yourself and your past with all of us, Jason. I’m extremely humbled by your words and honored that my book could make a difference in your life and empower your community! I am so grateful you are in the world, making it a better, more loving place!

My Audiobook is Live!

My audiobook, “Loving Yourself Into Being” is finally available on Audible, Amazon & iTunes!!! This labor of love truly started 3 years ago when my first poems came to me. I never thought I’d create and narrate my own audiobook, as I had no knowledge/experience in the field (me as a Psych Major turned Happiness Engineer turned Solo Backpacker… who was I to think I could write, publish, record/narrate a book/audiobook?!). But after publishing my poetry book last Valentine’s Day, many people encouraged me to record my poems as another way to breathe life into them. So I plunged into the deep end, turned my closet into a recording studio, worked with a fantastic sound engineer, Ray Hartman, who helped make my audio more professional, and ultimately edited the audio for another 80-100 hours to get it right. I wanted to share my journey in case it could spark you to do something you’ve always dreamed of or thought you couldn’t do! And if you’ve ever thought about creating an audiobook, I’d be happy to share any tips I’ve learned or connect you with my sound engineer.I hope you enjoy it and would love to hear your thoughts! It’s a very different experience than the paperback/kindle versions as apparently there’s a magical aspect that comes along with my voice

. I feel so fortunate that I get to accompany people in their self-love and compassion journeys through life. Thank you for being in my life, and for all of your encouragement and support through this process! I could not have done this without you. Here’s to expanding and loving ourselves into being!

With Love and Gratitude,

Free Poetry E-Book (for 3 Days)!!

Hey Friends,

I’m giving away my poetry e-book, “Loving Yourself Into Being”, for FREE for 3 days (longer story below)!!! In these crazy times, we need love and compassion even more, so I wanted to make my book more accessible. I hope you enjoy it, share it with your friends and family, and let me know what you think! If you like it, I’d be extremely grateful if you would write a review on Amazon for me afterwards. Thank you so much!

This past weekend, I attended an incredible, virtual 3-day conference called Get RYL where I re-aligned with my mission: to help others cultivate their self-love and compassion. I realized in this conference that:

1. I had this limiting belief that I was unworthy of other people’s time or attention, that asking for reviews would be “too much” or that I’d be perceived as “needing attention” or, again, “too much” if I promoted my poetry book.

2. I was planning on going to grad school next year to become a Marriage & Family Therapist because it was a secure and stable path that allowed me to hide behind a career and write on the side instead of doing what truly inspires me which is to share about self-love and help others love themselves and other deeper!

As a result of these breakthroughs, I’ve decided to shatter my limiting beliefs and dive 100% into creating my self-love platform which will include sharing my poetry book, speaking, coaching, writing and more! It’s honestly very scary but exciting, and I’ve never felt more alive!! I felt inspired to share my poetry book this week with you all so that we can spread even more love in this world. Thank you for being in my life and a part of this amazing adventure

I’m interviewed on iHeartRadio!!!

I had the privilege of being on iHeartRadio’s “The Kevin & Nikee Show” with the extraordinary hosts, Kevin D. Benton and Nikee Warren!! They just aired my podcast with them about my travels, poetry book “Loving Yourself Into Being”, being Jackie Chan’s personal assistant, Safe & Solo, and so much more! I hope you enjoy it. I start around 36 minutes in. Huge shoutout to Diana Weng for connecting us!! And thank you, Kevin & Nikee for being such kind, warm and fun hosts to connect with!!

In Nikee’s words:

Our Special Guest today is Karina Hsieh, who studied Psychology at Harvard University and worked in Silicon Valley before backpacking solo around the world for 1-1/2 years. She is an Adventurer, World Traveler and Explorer fueled by Love and Gratitude, who has cultivated her own self-love and compassion while craving exponential personal growth and perpetually following Love, especially self-love, as her North Star. Karina is the creator of www.safensolo.com which is a platform to empower other travelers, especially women, to feel safe and confident to explore the world. Karina is a Happiness Engineer, Creatrix, Fitness Instructor, Martial Artist, Writer, Blogger and the Author/Poet of “Loving Yourself Into Being” that she published on Valentine’s Day this year. This Awesome book is a collection of poems about self-love and compassion that dance playfully across the pages and bypasses your brain and nestles into your heart. It is split into three sections—Love, Becoming and Miracles—with the intention of displaying various aspects of Love and cultivating your own self-love and compassion. This is so that you awaken to the magic within yourself and in your life, which helps people to feel loved and remember their own deep capacity for compassion, kindness and Love. When Karina’s not writing, you can find her dancing, singing, unmasking miracles hidden in plain sight and just living life to the fullest. She also had the honor of being Jackie Chan’s Personal Assistant on the set of “Kung Fu Yoga.” It is going to be another fun, great show! You don’t want to miss it! Then after the interview don’t forget to check out “Kevin’s Korner” as he talks about ”Signs That Indicate That You Are Vibrating On A High Level And Frequency (Week 75” and “What’s Bothering Nikee” as she talks about ”What Are You Doing To Bring Honor To Your Family?” It is going to be another good show! You don’t want to miss it!”

My E-Book is Here!!

I just published the e-book version of my poetry book, “Loving Yourself into Being” (amazon.com/Loving-Yourself-Into-Being-Compassion-ebook/dp/B08B3BF9SB)!!! I’m donating 100% of book profits from both e-book and paperback to the NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund for the month of June. It was a steep learning curve as I was trying to combine two different types of e-books into one (fixed and reflowable), add a navigational Table of Contents, make it legible on different devices, etc. but I’m SO happy it’s done, and I can now share different formats with you! If you have questions about the e-book or paperback book making process, I’m happy to share my tips/experience with the self-publishing route. I hope you enjoy it

Donating 100% of profits to NAACP LDF

I’ll be donating 100% of profits from my poetry book “Loving Yourself Into Being” (amazon.com/dp/1734614307) to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund for all of June. NAACP LDF “seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice” (www.naacpldf.org) and has had a fantastic track record in creating change in this space.

I’ve been reflecting and feeling the weight of my own privileges as an Asian-American—that I don’t face the same multi-faceted discrimination as other POC, that I have the space, safety and resources to educate myself on how to be anti-racist and un-learn old biases. I hesitated on sharing this post because I feared diluting the Black Lives Matter movement and felt that I wasn’t helping “enough” or in the “right” way. But then I was reminded that we can all contribute to social change in our own way—by speaking out with our art, passion and livelihood—which is better than being silent out of fear of being criticized or mis-judged. It is important that we be courageous by sharing what’s on our minds, and equally important to be open to constructive feedback—this is how we learn and grow. The commitment of this post is just one step of many in supporting change that is long overdue.

I believe these poems can help bring us back to our own humanity, back to ourselves, and back to the beauty and love that is innate within each and every one of us. May they recharge and heal you so that you have greater energy to contribute to a better, united, more just and loving world.
